I have multimedia keys on my keyboard however they don't seem to function correctly?

This is usually due to the drivers for the keyboard and the additional function keys not being installed. If you head over to the keyboard manufacturers website you should be able to download the drivers which will make these keys function as intended.

However as an additional note sometimes the keys aren’t compatible with all software and may only work with certain multimedia programs such as Windows Media Player.
