SSD manufacturer Super Talent has recently announced their 4th generation Value SSD (VSSD) series, known as the VSSD Bolt.
The new VSSD Bolt range is set to target both the business and home user makers, going for that price vs performance sweet spot that people crave so much. While the SSDs will only be available in sizes upto and including 128GB, they should be pretty budget friendly to compensate for the lack of high storage editions.
Even with a 128 cap the full range of VSSD bolt will still offer a wide range of storage sizes, these include; 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 96 and 128GB capacities. Which are some odd numbers indeed, but it should also mean there will be a size to fit every budget even if the difference is only small.
Based on the 2nd generation of the popular Sandforce controller and running on MLC NAND flash chips which should offer performance of around 250MB/s, which isn't earth shattering performance, but still extremely fast compared to even the quickest mechanical drives on the market. The 250MB/s speeds are also a full three times faster than the last generation of Super Talent VSSDs, as well as featuring TRIM and S.M.A.R.T. technology.
There are no official prices or releases just yet, but it shouldn't be long now until we have full details and we'll update you as soon as we know.
