The Play Expo is coming, back to Manchester between the 12th and 13th of October this year, more specifically to Event City right next to Manchesters Trafford Centre.

The Play Expo is a massive event which is made up of four seperate events, re.play, now.play, pro.play and cos.play which are housed under the banner of The Play Expo, a bit more info on each event is below detailing some of the events from last year.

now.play is the part of the expo which showcases new and future releases from lots of publishers, last year it was one of the few places you could actually get your hands on the Wii-U console and play, you could also play the first 15 mins of the unreleased Metal Gear Rising - Revengeance, almost 5 months before release.

pro.play as you can probably guess is the competetive gaming event, at last years event it housed several tournaments from Call of Duty, Street Fighter to Halo as part of the EGL (European Gaming League). This year they hope to open up the tournaments so that more casual players can join in the tournament fun. (we don't talk about my history of entering tournaments though...)

re.play is the event I am most looking forward to,especially after last years vast collection of classic consoles and games I am excited by the news that this years event is going to be bigger and better, with consoles from the earliest era of gaming scheduled to be available to play on as well as featuring more freeplay arcade machines and more traders to buy goodies from!

cos.play is the event for the dedicated and creative gamers who want to put on their robe and wizard hat then pay tribute to their favourite video game characters, with costume competitions, parades and a whole host of other activities for you to partake in. With further planned features which are expected to include talks and workshops/panels, trading card games etc it looks to be a bumper year.

This year I will be in attendance, again, and I can't wait for it, only 94 days to go !
