Ubisoft announced this week that their frantic paced competitive online FPS will be launched on April 10th this year. Not only is it only a few months away but Ubisoft are firing up the Beta test servers once again as the game enters Open Beta phase, allowing everyone to jump in a have fun pre-launch from the 12th of February. This extended open beta time should really give the developers chance to finalise their already well-polished game and of course, stress test their servers pre-launch.

ShootMania Storm hails from Nadeo Studios and is hot on the heels of the other Mania title TrackMania, one of the most successful arcade racing games ever created. ShootMania has already proven its self popular on the pro gaming scene where it has been played competitively for months now, let’s hope the popularity continues when the game hits retail.

“Nadeo’s model of development has always been to be very close to the community, said Anne Bondel-Jouin, Managing Director of Nadeo Live, and following the release of the Beta 2 in December, we received a tremendous amount of information from the very active ShootMania community. For a living, online multiplayer title like this the work is never done, but these extra few weeks will allow us to polish the game further and release it to the level of quality we think our players deserve.”

Even though the game is yet to be released, there are already 15 user created game mode and well over 20,000 maps on ManiaPlanets map editor! The open beta should only increase that number as we head towards launch day.
