Tough. Ready. Scalable.

Seagate’s latest Ironwolf NAS drives offer industry leading quality at great prices. Bring new life to your network attached storage and unleash the full potential of your data. Designed to be always on and always working, Ironwolf is further enhanced with AgileArray™ technology for increased system agility and reliability.

Built into every IronWolf NAS drive is Seagate’s own innovative AgileArray™ technology which enables dual-plane balancing and complete RAID optimisation in environments supporting multiple bays. This is an essential ingredient for multi-user environments which demand 24x7 accessibility and snappy, reliable performance.

IronWolf Health Management

As with any network storage set-up, reliability is needed. The IronWolf excels in this, using their own Health Management system, Seagate have given you the tools to monitor and manage your drive constantly. Focusing on preventing loss of data and recovery this pushes the boundaries of securing your data.

You can also set the drive to notify you if any errors are flagged up in the system with the DiskStation Manager 6.1 included in the software package. This attention to detail is why Seagate are the pinnacle of NAS storage and why the IronWolf will be perfect for you to boost your work rate. Seagate have maximised the potential when in a RAID configuration with Error Recovery Control that redefines responsiveness and combat lag to give a quick, clean user experience where required.

Multi-Bay and NAS-Ready With Built-In RV Sensor

Safeguarding against any kind of loss of data is paramount to Seagate and their RV sensors add another layer of security to the drive. Rotational Vibration sensors manage multi-bay vibration and long term degradation to allow the drive to maintain a consistent performance over a long period of use.

The IronWolf can be completely operational 24/7 in terms of accessing data and can handle a workload of around 180TB per year, making it just as proficient when handling hours of movies for your home cinema, or sensitive documents at work. The Ironwolf has a 3 year warranty and is available in sizes 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 6TB, 8TB, 10TB and 12TB

last week

It was that for my tech refresh. My storage systems (2 synology ds2015xs with a total of 16x4TB disks) are always the to be refreshed and so I started hunting for a seller especially since I was looking to upgrade to 16x8TB disks. My attempts at looking for a reputable seller o Amazon was to say the least not encouraging as I had spent months trying to figure out where to get the disks (I buy most of my tech from Amazon). The very poor reviews I had read from various buyers on Amazon did not give the confidence that I was going to be happy with my purchase either. So I decided to give the independent retailers a try...I choose CCL and another retailer and split the quantity into 2 batches... 9 (8 + 1 spare) to CCL and 9 (8 + 1 spare) to the other retailer. The disks arrived on time as promised and were properly secured and packaged and for the first time ever, I checked what the warranty status was on the disks. (This was one of the major issues reported by buyers on Amazon) I was over the moon when every single disk I bought from CCL still had the 3 year warranty on it!!! And when it came to building the array (raid 5, took about a day and a half checking for consistencies), not a single error was reported on completion!!! To say that I was extremely pleased is an understatement. The whole process from purchase to utilisation was ...as they say in mortal kombat..a "FLAWLESS VICTORY" for me. I would have given more than 5 stars for this transaction but alas :) 5 is the maximum I would definitely recommend CCL for purchasing tech equipment. On a completely unrelated side note, I have been camping on their website waiting for an opportunity to grab an ASUS 3090 RTX GPU...we all know how that is going these days :)

Value for money per TB is great but these have been the noisiest NAS Hard Drives I have owned despite firmware and multiple tweaks to NAS enclosure to reduce vibration, will go back to WD Red's on next upgrade.

Its a bit expensive but I thought Id try it other than WD red. Certainly lot faster and tested ok out of the box.

Delivered to incorrect address after being informed three times after 3 attempts, both to CCL and DPD. CCL refused to replace the order to the correct address "pending DPD investigation" which never happened. Then refused to refund. Had to report to Trading Standards and Chargeback the order (over 500 worth) through the bank. Rubbish and can't be trusted to get even the simple things right.

Replaced by WD RED 6TB (5600rpm) with a Seagate 8TB in my Synology NAS. The Seagate is quite a bit warmer and makes much more disk access noise. However, there was an immediate speed increase in starting Apps and accessing files on the shared drives. The NAS drive sits in an office where the noise doesn't make a difference but I would probably find it too noisy to use in a bedroom or even a sitting room.

Bought for our new Synology DS918+ NAS, seems good so far, giving us plenty of storage space.
