Has RGB Lighting Gone Crazy?

Mark ponders the possible overuse of RGB lighting in modern components and builds.

The gaming scene really has taken off again for the PC over the past few years, however it’s also gotten a lot brighter in every sense of the word.

It seems the trend these days is that to be classed as a gaming component it must have some form of RGB lighting. I recently built a new system and even I think the RGB lighting is a tad over the top. What’s happened to the subtle designs? This reminds me of a long time ago when we had the entire see through cases and instead of light strips we have now or ram that lit up we had the cathode kits (pictured above)

I’m sure many of us will remember this case:

It was horrible back then in my view and it just became tacky once we added all the cathode kits. RGB lighting now is much better designed and refined. However, as each and every part seems to have it on, we’re almost making our PC parts invisible and since they’re designed so well doesn’t it ruin the look by this point?

As I say RGB is getting crazy and becoming so over the top I almost feel we could reach the “tacky” stage again.
