Do I need an ATX 3.0 PSU?

An ATX 3.0 certified PSU is by far the best option for new graphics cards and the latest processors. With greater efficiencies and performance across the board, however, an ATX 3.0 makes the perfect partner for the latest components.

You can read more about these next gen PSUs in our recent article to see if you need one or not:

"With higher efficiencies and features designed for those who might experience power spikes (gamers, creators, deep learning data scientists etc.), an ATX 3.0 power supply is a standard you should set for your system. It is highly recommended that you upgrade your power supply if you are buying a new graphics card from the GeForce RTX 40-series line-up, though it remains to be seen what the benchmarks officially reveal for the RTX 4090." - from the CCL Blog: ATX 3.0 PSUs Explained - Will You Need One?

Previous generation PSUs that offer high wattage and good energy efficiencies are also recommended. For example, the RTX 4090 graphics card has a TDP of 450W, which means a suitable 850W PSU is recommended. To ensure you are minimising energy consumption, an 80+ Gold/Platinum/Titanium rated PSU is perfect for the job.
