Are your ears burning? Well they should be, because everyone’s talking about the upcoming SteelSeries Arctis 7 gaming headset.
Following on from the Arctis 3 and Arctis 5, SteelSeries are welcoming this new member to their impressive fleet, and to be quite frank – it is beautiful.
Hitting the shops at the beginning of March, this advanced piece of wireless technology ticks so many boxes. With PTS Headphone X 7.1 Surround Sound, clever ChatMix technology, comfortable athletics-inspired materials and a luxurious, polished design, these are just some of the features that bring music to our ears.
Speaking of the headsets looks alone, we agree with other reviewers who praise the Arctis 7 for its subtlety. Laying off the RGB this time, SteelSeries have kept this design clean and refined. The outer-side of the ear cups feel smooth to the touch and look sleek in their finish, with the SteelSeries logo handsomely imprinted on both sides. Coating the memory-foam ear cups themselves, an exclusive AirWeave fabric adorns the cushions and insulates noise whilst providing breathability and comfort for the wearer. Overhead, a patterned ski-goggle headband bedecks the lightweight structure, making it an extremely satisfying fit that looks and feels great… And if you fancy switching things up, SteelSeries offer various different headbands with quirky designs on their website so you can accessorize.
Fully wireless for PC, MAC and PS4, this enticing peripheral offers a lag-free experience through Top-Tier S1 40mm Speaker Drivers, and with a 40ft range, (which we tested in our YouTube video!) it offers the user plenty of freedom. Don’t worry if you’re on Xbox or wanting to use the Arctis 7 with your phone – you still can, using the 3.5mm cable included.
The ClearCast retractable bidirectional microphone is attractive with an LED (that lights red when muted), and features first-class engineering that brings crystal-clear sound whilst acoustically eliminating almost all background noise. Volume levels can be easily toggled from the on-ear scroll and the neighbouring mute button is neatly raised when activated. Also residing on the earcups are ports for the included cables, your power button, and our favourite aspect – the ChatMix dial.
ChatMix is SteelSeries’ deviceful feature that gives gamers total control over the balance of in-game sound. On the ChatMix wheel itself, users can even feel their way to a delicate click that represents the central equilibrium between in-game chat and in-game sound effects.
All further customisation for the Arctis 7 comes from the SteelSeries Engine 3 Software – a fresh, visceral program that runs with almost any modern SteelSeries peripheral. Enjoy the liberty of creating various profiles for different games and then syncing all your SteelSeries devices together.
Also within the box’s contents comes a fun sticker card and a neatly packaged ‘accessories’ pack, complete with a product information guide, product rating card, micro USB charging cable and a wireless transmitter.
