GeForce RTX 3080 Launch: What Happened?
Last week's GeForce RTX 3080 launch has been the biggest launch ever, causing many websites to crash and stock overselling within minutes due to the high number of simultaneous orders being placed. Even though the new generation of graphics cards was highly anticipated, nobody predicted the demand of this scale. Since then NVIDIA has issued an offical response to the stock situation.
"We expected the best ever demand for the RTX 30-series, but the enthusiasm was overwhelming. We were not prepared for this level, nor were our partners. We apologize for this. "
- NVIDIA
According to NVIDIA, over 50 major global retailers had inventory on the day of launch. Retailers, including CCL, reported record traffic to their websites exceeding those seen on Black Friday. Some retailers' websites crashed altogether, and many oversold their allocated stock due to hundreds of orders being placed at the same time.
What is the current stock situation?
NVIDIA has confirmed that the GeForce RTX 3080 is in full production with partners ramping up capacity to meet the unprecedented demand. Even though many customers area unable to buy a RTX 3080 right now, manufacturers are doing everything they can co catch up quickly. In the meantime, we strongly suggest not buying from opportunistic resellers who are attempting to take advantage of the current situation.

Why did CCL oversell?
As with other retailers, the huge demand caused stock to oversell within minutes. Even though our website checks stock levels close to real-time, the unprecedented nature of the launch meant that our system received more orders than it could process, resulting in stock being oversold. It can take up to a minute for an order to be processed and stock levels updated and during the peak of the launch we were getting hundreds of orders per minute. Unfortunately, this meant some orders did not have stock allocated.
I have a confirmation email, will I get my order?
We are working hard to process orders to ensure available stock is allocated on a "first come, first served" basis. Only some orders can be fulfilled from current stock even though at the time of placing the order the stock showed as available. This would never normally happen but at one point we had over 100,000 visitors to the site and receiving hundreds of orders per minute. We are working closely with NVIDIA and the card manufacturers and in the coming weeks we will have more stock available.
If I keep my order on but I paid for express shipping which now isn’t going to happen can I have my shipping refunded?
Yes, if you have kept your order on and if you had paid for carriage we will refund your carriage prior to shipping your order.
Can I cancel my order and get a full refund?
Absolutely! We are working to ensure that customers who wish to cancel their orders can receive a refund as quickly as possible. However, due to the high demand for this product, stock will be in very short supply across all retailers, you may choose to keep your order open and await our next allocation instead.
Please accept our most sincere apologies; we do understand how disappointing and frustrating this is.
