Good value and quality Pros: Well made and seems to be very sturdy. The display is clear and has a good viewing angle (but see below). The colour calibration can be automatically set to suit whatever media you are viewing (e.g. from movies, photos, and text etc). As supplied, the brightness is very high but can easily be adjusted to your liking. The menu control buttons on the front of the display frame enable the main functions to be changed on a temporary basis but there seems to be no means to store the settings via this route (but see below). Assembly is straightforward and, in its factory default settings, the plug-and-play works perfectly. Using Dell's downloaded software (see below), the monitor was able to automatically set its colour calibration to match my printer (i.e. what you see on the screen is what you see on the print-out): pretty good results! Cons: The Manufacturer's Packing Note showed that the contents should have including a CD containing the full Operator's Manual and Dell's software: no CD was included. This software is necessary to access the FULL features of the monitor. The supplier assured me that no such CD should have been included: hey-ho! A visit to Dell's website provided downloads for this and allowed the saving of personalised monitor settings etc (a curiosity is that the software appears not to have a "Save" button: you simply exit the programme and it does save). Whilst the brightness can easily be changed and stored with the software, the contrast control is hard to find (I still have not) but it seems fine anyway. The viewing angle is very good but, strangely, when the screen is tilted back even by a few degrees the top of the screen appears progressively darker but viewing straight on is fine. The downloaded Operator's Manual is fairly comprehensive but does not explain the energy (power?) control that appears when you try to adjust the brightness control via the front panel buttons: it seems to act with a contrast effect and it is necessary to juggle this and the brightness. It is easier to use Dell's software. Overall: A very good monitor at a reasonable price despite the few shortcomings. Highly recommended.
