For a rack-mount 1200VA UPS, you wont get better value for money. Its a nice compact unit with a nice display and even the bundled software is quite well presented. The cost-cutting had to come in somewhere and opening it up reveals all. The 2x 7Ah batteries are unbranded, the dc cabling is too thin for the job, and the AC cabling is no better. Its barely thicker than a hair (one single wire daisy-chains to all 5 outlets) and the MOSFETS are from the bargain bin. Theres a whopping great big transformer taking up most of the space, stepping up the 24v to 240v ac. The output is a modified sine wave, which looks particularly awful on a scope. Using it to supply a smps or 2, should be fine, as the input tolerances are usually pretty high. However, interestingly, when connecting my Eaton UPS to the output, as a test, the Eaton sees the modified sine wave as an unacceptable input and switches to protected mode... make of that what you will. All in all, I think I got a lot for the price I paid, but Ill admit Ill be surprised if it lasts 2 years.
