Q&A

Do you have you a question about the GameMax RGB 850W Power Supply, ATX, 80 PLUS Gold Certified, Fully Modular?

Q: Hi there will this fit in my pc. Its an OMEN by HP 880-138na. Currently has a 500w psu, but want to upgrade for a new gpu when the prices have come down a bit more, my current gpu is nvidia gtx 1070 8gb, it's power lead is 2x4 (8 pin)
Answer by Website User on 19th July 2022
"it's power lead is 2x4 (8 pin)" - That doesn't sound like a standard ATX spec as 4+4-pin would be an EPS cable (CPU power to motherboard), GPUs should use 6+2-pin PCIe power cables. If the HP Omen uses a standard ATX PSU, then yes this will work as a replacement, but if it doesn't and requires EPS cables for the GPU, then no, it won't work for your needs.

Q: Will this replace a modular 850w in an Alienware R5.
Answer by Website User on 30th May 2022
Not likely, I do not believe Dell use a standard ATX PSU in their systems.

Very good quality, sturdy construction, slim ribbon cables, much easier to hide away than the old round cables and even the bits you can see are more aesthetically pleasing.
