Q: My external enclosure with an HD (previously in a pc) was recognised fine until it wasn't so bought a new (CIT) enclosure and the drive does not show up. The unit is showing a red light which I understand means the disk is being read. I presume that it is 'plug and play' re the drivers. I am using Windows XP SP3 as my OS.
Answer by Dan on 21st December 2015
You shouldn't need any drivers, no. With you having problems with a previous enclosure I would suspect that the drive itself may be faulty so would recommend checking it in another dock or computer. If the drive is still working fine then the enclosure must be at fault, if you contact our customer service team on 01274 471206 or customerservice@cclonline.com they can arrange a return. -Danlevan

Q: does this have an automatic standby if left on for a long period of time, if yes can it be turned off?. I wish to use it for recording from the tv, I will require it to remain active at all times.
Answer by Website User on 15th June 2015
I don't believe it would have anything like a standby feature built in, power saving options would be controlled by a computer that it is attached to. -Danlevan
