Capacity:

Overview

Kingston’s A2000 NVMe PCIe SSD is an affordable storage solution with impressive performance. Boasting read/write speeds of up to 2,200/2,000MB/s1, A2000 delivers 3x the performance of a SATA SSD with quicker loading times, less power consumption and lower heat. A2000 SSD is designed for the entry-level user, purpose-built system manufacturer, DIY system builder and those seeking to upgrade their PC. With a single-sided slim M.2 design, A2000 works to its full potential when installed in an Ultrabook or a small-form-factor PC (SFF PC) system.

Available in capacities from 250GB–1TB2 to meet your system’s needs. A2000 is a self-encrypting drive that supports end-to-end data protection using 256-bit XTS-AES hardware-based encryption, and allows the use of independent software vendors with TCG Opal 2.0 security management solutions such as Symantec™, McAfee™, WinMagic® and others. A2000 also has built-in eDrive support, a security storage specification for use with BitLocker.

1. Based on “out-of-box performance” using a PCIe 3.0 motherboard. Speed may vary due to host hardware, software, and usage. IOMETER Random 4k Random Read/Write is based on 8GB partition.
2. Some of the listed capacity on a Flash storage device is used for formatting and other functions and thus is not available for data storage. As such, the actual available capacity for data storage is less than what is listed on the product.

Main Features

  • Incredible NVMe PCIe performance
  • Supports a full-security suite (TCG Opal, AES 256-bit, eDrive)

Bought this for my home gaming PC, and have no regrets. Easy to install, everything runs smoothly, and has plenty of space.

I bought this M.2 1TB 2280 Kingston drive to replace a smaller standard M.2 SATA3 drive. The Kingston is much faster than that previous drive. My motherboard, an MSI B450-A-Pro full ATX has one M.2 slot mounted fairly centrally. It's easy to get to. So fittting it was a simple process. My board will run either the standard SATA3 M.2 or this Kingston NVME M.2. Not all boards will do that so be careful to order the correct M.2 drive for the socket on your computer motherboard. With only one M.2 drive socket on my motherboard I also needed to buy an NVME M.2 external drive enclosure so I could mount my new drive in it and then clone my old M.2 drive to it. The enclosures are very cheap to buy if you search a bit and I found a good NVME for just 23 online. The NVME enclosures tend to be more expensive though than the standard M.2 SATA enclosures which you can buy for around 15. Again be careful to order the correct socket type so you can fit your new drive in it. There's lots of online help to make sure you understand this if you are not sure. I used Acronis True Image free software to clone my drive on to the other. Switched off and fitted the new drive. Takes just minutes to do. Booted first time. And as I said earlier in this review, the Kingston is very fast on most systems. It attains read and write speeds sequential or otherwise at many many times faster than a mechanical drive and faster than the standard M.2 SATA that I previous had fitted. With memory prices as they are now (much lower than 18mths ago) this was a steal from CCL computers who again gave very good service with very prompt delivery.

Cheap and so far reliable. Seems pretty decent to me. No complaints here.

Quite the step up in speed even from an SSD. Kingston manage to find a great balance between performance, capacity and cost. Definitely would recommend.
