Lost a lot of sense and ordered this card, first off, ignoring cost his card is amazing.
I had this with Control and the new Wolfenstein game helped justify the purchase, after trying this ray tracing is completely worth it in my eyes, control isn't a bad looking game, but once you've seen it with RTX features on, its just not the same with it off, once you've seen how it can improve the looks of a game its really worth it.
Down to the card, I actually run this at a 90% power limit as I just see no need for the full power of this thing, I like quiet computing and just holding it back a little really keeps the temps low, the cooler is really impressive, I've got a 1440p Gsync monitor and everything runs with ultra settings, including control with all ray tracing things on absolutely smoothly at 1440p. I did initially overclock it and with a 6700k managed to get over 10k in TimeSpy which I was personally impressed with, temps stay under 80 with this card, the fans take a while to kick in on the default fan profile and this card is completely silent until you start pushing it which makes working on the computer quite relaxing.
I feel to get the most out of this you want a newer CPU, I honestly feel the 6700 is holding it back, however I can't see any need for anything more powerful for quite some time unless your at 4k, I did try upscaling to 4k on a few things and I was impressed how playable games are, coming from a 1070 there is a silly leap in performance.
Word of warning to anyone without an armoured PCI E slot, this is a big card, and heavy, I have an armoured slot but I still use the bracket that sites under the card to help with the weight, this card combined with a be quiet CPU cooler ensures my motherboard is strained beyond reasonable expectations, to my surprise it hasn't snapped yet, but give it time!
