TD-Link TD-W9970 (EU) V4 This product does not seem to exist yet on the TP-Link UK website ... only V1 through V3. And this is NOT the TD-W9970 reviewed on Kitz.co.uk! The V4 does NOT use a Broadcom chipset. The modem/router worked fine for a week (good real world speed and uptime) but then conked out ... the ADSL connection started dropping out and in the end the router was rebooting every minute or so. Not a line problem as an old Netgear DGN2200 has now been up for 48 hours. Voiding a Warranty There are just 2 screws to be undone. Then with a thumbnail unfasten the 7 clips (2 at each side, 2 at the front, one at the back) which hold the cover in place. It comes off quite easily so no need to force it ... just push your thumbnail into the gap and slide it along until the clips unpop. Here is what I found: Econet EN7512U Mediatek MT7592N Econet EN7556N Winbond 25Q128JVSQ 128 M-bit Flash memory 2 x JWD D20702 10/100 Base-TX Plus 2 yumcha electrolytics: 1 Aishi 105C 470nF 16v 1 JWCO 105C 220nF 16v both of which I replaced with Rubycons. The unit is now in the spares box. 3 stars because it worked for a week and you may have better luck.

I was having problems with my broadband, and suspected the talk talk router. The talk talk router could never tell me what devices were connected, so I was happy to try changing it out. It actually figured out most of it's config doing a learn, including my fairly obscure DHCP setup. I only had to tell it one parameter, before it sprang to life. Now it operates reliably at a decent bit rate, and tells me who is connected to the network. I'm a happy bunny.

It's ok but the signal is a bit weak - bought this to replace a cheap old technicolor router with an internal little antenna and this is no stronger...
