This M.2 was an absolute steal for the price. Not to mention the speed! I went with this over the Samsung 980 as I had previously heard many good things and after a couple of weeks, I was being pointed towards it by many different sources. Installation was simple and with a fresh install of Windows I now boot to home screen in about 20 seconds! no exaggeration at all! Games now load in no time at all too! Now in terms of looks, its very stealthy with its black PCB board and simplistic design, which is what I was going for with the rest of the build, so this dropped in quite nicely! And would fit into any build or style. No need for any of that extra space and having to have 2 4 large 3.5 hard drives anymore. Definitely an improvement and wont be long until these are standardized as the cost is already reducing. Last thing I would like to add, if your motherboard doesnt have them or only 1 of them and youre looking to install more than 1 of these or any other m.2 drives, is an M.2 heatsink as they can get incredibly warm very quickly. I personally picked up the EK M.2 heatsink, which is fairly easy to install, but there are many others from very reputable brands that do not cost a lot at all.

Fast m2 storage for a great price. Seems to run quite hot ~65c under sustained use, but this seems to be the norm for this type of storage. Simple plug and play with no fuss.

Actually, a bit overkill for me as retired. Not in a rush for anything. For other people the sheer speed of this NVME is wonderful. I used a 500GB NVMe for "system" & using the 1TB NVMe for files that value the speed. Photos & what not are on simple HDs. While I'd recommend this product I'd suggest a good look into what is used/needed in your own system.

It's a nice, big, fast Samsung M2 drive. I doubt you will be dissapointed. Why on earth they cant include the tiny screw you need to install it, worth pennies, in the box is beyond me though.

The Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD range offers some of the -currently- fastest data transfer speeds on the planet of any SSD, if not THE fastest with the "970 Pro" range. You need to ensure you have a mainboard which features a 'M.2 socket 3' slot, to install this SSD, which supports NVMe (PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode) to get the best out of it. Otherwise you'll be using it in 'SATA & PCIE 3.0 x 4 mode' which is not nearly as fast at transferring data. Installing the SSD couldn't be simpler. For those who might need assistance there is a plethora of YouTube videos showing you how to do it. Samsung has it's own software called "Data Migration" which is freely available to download and install (NB: it only works with Samsung SSDs!) Samsung's "Data Migration" software makes it very easy to transfer all your data from your old HDD/SSD onto your new 970 EVO Plus SSD. The entire Windows 10 migration process took approx. 15-20 minutes for me. Samsung also provides a NVMe driver specifically designed for this SSD, to ensure optimal performance and to maximize compatibility with your system. ** Samsung recommends to use the Samsung NVMe driver instead of the one Windows 10 installs through Windows updates. ** I've installed Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2-2280 1TB in an ASUS Z390-Pro Gaming mainboard running an Intel i5-9600K with DDR4 2666MHz RAM. Windows 10 boots from cold to the desktop in approx. 8-10 seconds. Compare that with the Samsung 860 EVO SSD which did the same in approx. 30-35 seconds using the same hardware. This SSD is amazingly quick! There are other M.2 SSDs currently available which boast speeds as fast (or in AData's case "faster") then the Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD and are quite a bit cheaper. However, when you get down to the nitty-gritty calculations of MPS, IOPS, and MTBF you'll find this Samsung M.2 SSD is designed very well and will outlast the competition with double the projected lifespan (and in some cases longer). So, it's expensive but possibly worth the additional cost in my opinion. Samsung could make them slightly cheaper and then it would be perfect and great value.

May 2019

Installed this SSD in an ASUS Z390-PRO Gaming mainboard, running an Intel i5-9600K CPU, on the NVMe compatible M.2_2 slot (PCIe 3.0 x4 mode), the one underneath the chipset heatsink(s). Downloaded and installed Samsung Support Tools software ("Data Migration") to clone my existing Windows 10 installation onto the new Samsung 970 SSD. The whole process took approx. 25 minutes, from unboxing the Samsung 970 SSD to having my existing installation of Windows 10 booting from it. A very easy, efficient and successful process indeed, facilitated by the Samsung software. The speed of my system running the Samsung 970 SSD is quite unbelieveable, compared to the SSD I was running before, which was a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB SATA SSD. It was very fast then but now it is twice as fast (or more) using this 970 EVO Plus M.2 SSD. Windows 10 boots to the desktop from a cold start in approx. 6-7 seconds. You hardly have time to blink after clicking an icon to open a program (e.g. MS Word or Mozilla Firefox) before it appears. The data transfer rate of this SSD is super-fast and that's where your (quite large) amount of cash is being spent on. It features the latest in SSD technology and the 970 EVO Plus is faster than anything else on the planet at the moment, apart from the Samsung 970 EVO Pro M.2 SSD - it's bigger brother. For this extreme level of performace, value for money kind of gets thrown out of the window. So, my advice and conclusion is; if you can afford it then your money will be well spent on this SSD.
