Q&A

Do you have you a question about the AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Desktop Processor, 3.5GHz Base, 4.4GHz Turbo, 6 Cores, 12 Threads, Socket AM4, 65W TDP, 35MB Cache, Zen 3, Stock Cooler?

Q: Hi. Will this CPU be compatible with an ASRock Taichi x570 motherboard without needing to update the bios? Thanks
Answer by Website User on 26th April 2022
No, you would need to update the UEFI BIOS to at least version 4.80 for this CPU to be supported. That motherboard does have a BIOS Flashback button which means you can flash the BIOS without having a CPU or RAM installed. Check our ASRock's guide on how to do this.

I bought it to replace a Ryzen 5 1600 on an Asus ROG Strix B350-F Gaming motherboard. The physical installation was easy enough and once the system was back on, it got recognized and activated straight away (it just required updating the BIOS before the installation). Performance improvement was amazing both with every day tasks and with gaming. I haven't got any issue yet so far and I'm very impressed with this CPU.

Great for gaming. In assassins creed odyssey benchmark my score went from 60fps to 86fps when upgrading from a ryzen 5 2600 cpu. With a decent cooler you can pretty much run 4.6Ghz constant using pbo2.

Replaced Ryzen 5 2600. Had to upgrade BIOS which turned into a nightmare. Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 470. BIOS bootup locked up when going from version 31. Eventually put in a boot usb and removed a D: drive. I think it was the latter that got the BIOS going again. Easy after that. CPU has a fan with thermal paste already applied. Not obvious - nearly bought the paste with the CPU. After installation an intensive software build went from 65 seconds down to about 43 seconds. Roughly 35% faster. Excellent.

Massive upgrade from my 2600x. I'm running it with an RX 6700 and they pair very well. I'd recommend getting a better air cooler than the included wraith one but it definitely doesn't require anything too fancy, mine idles around 30C in a small form case.

Great improvement over 1600 and was an easy swap into a B350 board. Boxed cooler is smaller than the original for the 1600 though so I repurposed it. Good price when I bought it but it seems to have gone up in price. CCL were quick with the delivery. I can't comment on customer service as I haven't had to use it

I'm sad I missed getting this for 70 on Black Friday (or thereabout) but I can't complain for 130 when that's one of the lowest it's been. This was my first build and I've been very happy with the 5600, getting an AM4 chip in the socket's twilight hour was cheaper than going for an AM5. Might look into a 5800x3D in the future but for now the 5600 suits my needs perfectly well.

Easily one of the best value CPUs on the market in 2022. Don't be fooled by its lower position in the AMD lineup for processors, this thing S L A P S!

Tons of performance for the price, great for a budget room. Shame it's EOL for AM4 but a worthwhile upgrade from a 2000 Ryzen or even a 3000. Score 10500 in Cinebench R23 at stock (non PBO). My old 3700X (8 core) scores 12500 (PBO on) so good IPC gain over 3000 series. Almost all of the 5600X performance for 60 quid less.

The cpu is fine, but i upgraded from a 3600 and barely seen any improvement. I wish I had got the 5800x which seems better value all round

Recently upgraded from an old FX-8350 to the Ryzen 5 5600 What can i say about the processor..... well, WOW. Granted it isn't THE top processor on the market at the moment, but it can very easily hold its own again the majority of its rivals. When paired with the right graphics card and memory, this CPU will perfectly run every game on at least minimal settings, and going by my setup, it will play 97% of ALL games at recommended. As for the price......... well, it is an extremely attractive choice for those on a budget as myself, and is DEFINATELY worth the cost. I cannot recommend this CPU any higher. it is a definate yes for pretty much everything. price, power consumption, even the sound from the fan is extremely quiet. Would i buy this again ? without a doubt Would i highly recommend this cpu ? definately yes the delivery and sales team at CCL , i cannot praise high enough. it arrived extremely well packaged and fast. so full credit and 10/10 to CCL for a top notch service. If anything, CCL is quickly becoming my go-to for all my computer part purchases. Many thanks for doing business with you good folks. Highly recommend

The 5600 is a great choice for those who are still on a b350 motherboard. Not too expensive and a big upgrade from my 1600.

Coming from a 3 year old 2600 is a great performance upgrade, and cheap too as I could keep using my motherboard and RAM.
