Q: Hi I've been wondering if I need to physically connect this to my computer by USB cable or can this be connected to my Wifi router by cable port and connect to computers through it? This might sound silly question but being a novice grateful for your help. Thanks!

This would connect directly into your PC via USB, If you want to share this over wireless I would suggest purchasing a network drive which can be found here http://www.cclonline.com/category/704/Storage/Network-Storage-Drives/
