Great monitor for serious gamers, especially driving/flight sims, FPS or some strategy games (HOI4 is great on this). The screen is a huge 49" but like having 2x27" monitors side by side, so not so tall but very wide. The curved screen makes it feel like you're actually there, while the single monitor means no bezels spoiling the picture (unlike my previous multi monitor setup). Great features, so can connect two devices to the screen and split the screen to display both devices side by side (e.g. desktop and laptop) and can have one device use more of the screen than the other. Refresh rate is great in gaming but note you need to use displayport to get the best out of it (HDMI only runs at 60Hz, Displayport runs at up to 120Hz). Not quite as good as a 4K UHD gaming monitor for picture quality but makes up for that with sheer size for immerisive gaming without the need for a head/eye tracker (still use my TrackIR but set it to low movement).
This is my second monitor (first one arrived damaged with cracked screen, something only noticed when I powered it on for the first time after going through the assembly) and having read other reviews online have noticed that quality control from Samsung appears to be a bit hit and miss with these. If you get a good one (like my second one), you can't go wrong but be aware and check the monitor thoroughly. Have read several people have issues with stuck pixels but mine hasn't got any so far, so guess that's also a bit hit and miss.
Bought mine from CCL in Bradford and could not be happier with the service. Ordered for Saturday delivery, delivered on time, with DPD rating as the best delivery firm in my opinion. Setup and found fault too late to return same day (cracked screen) but returned first thing Monday and had replacement shipped to me on Tuesday. Have used CCL for several orders over the years and highly recommend, though this is the first faulty item I've had and very impressed with the service provided.
Rated 4 stars on value for money as let's be honest, this isn't cheap, but having looked at several super wide monitors, this one rated top for features and gaming at quad HD, though there are cheaper options available at super wide for standard HD gaming.
While I bought this mostly for gaming, have to admit it is going to prove very useful for productivity as well. I often work from home and being able to display so much on one screen or run two systems together on one screen will be very useful (though not used it for that as yet, still enjoying the novelty of gaming on my new screen).
Setup is fairly simple, basically attach the stand to the back, screw it in, attach the feet, screw them on, plug cables into back, place cable cover, lift onto computer desk, connect everything and drool at the picture quality. Screen was set to 100% brightness out of the box but quick read of the quick start guide showed how to reduce this.
So glad I took the plunge and bought this :) but as mentioned, this is really for serious gamers or serious productivity and comes with a serious price tag to match.
