ProLite XUB3493WQSU is a 34” LED monitor featuring the latest IPS Panel technology considered to be the best all round panel type. It offers accurate and consistent colour reproduction with wide viewing angles and a fast response time. UWQHD (Ultra Wide QHD) resolution offers an ultra wide (21:9) viewable area. The large amount of space and good pixel density offered by the size and resolution of this screen provide great potential on the desktop. Very suitable for those who want to use side-by-side applications, watch a movie shot in widescreen format or enrich their gaming experience.

Main Features

  • IPS Technology - IPS technology offers higher contrast, darker blacks and much better viewing angles than standard TN technology. The screen will look good no matter from what angle you look at it.
  • Ultra Wide - UWQHD - UWQHD (Ultra Wide QHD) resolution offers an ultra wide (21:9) viewable area.
  • PiP - PIP (Picture in Picture) function allows you to watch images coming from two different sources at the same time.
  • FreeSync™ Technology - AMD FreeSync™ technology puts an end to choppy gameplay and broken frames with fluid, artifact-free performance at virtually any framerate.
  • ACR - Contrast Ratio is a measurement of the difference between the darkest black and the brightest white your monitor can display. Advanced Contrast Ratio is a feature that automatically adjusts contrast and brightness of the screen to assure perfect picture quality while watching films and playing games.

Q: My GPU has a DVI-D***, DVI-I and mini-HDMI is it possible to run this monitor at it's native resolution (3440x1440) with a combination of these output and how? What cables do I need to to run this monitor at the closest to native resolution as possible.
Answer by Website User on 17th December 2020
After a few Emails with I found out that the iiyama xub3493wqsu monitor can only run at native resolution (3440x1440) with a DisplayPort connection. It can use two display cables “If you setup PbP on the monitor it works. Not with 2 HMDI, but with 1x DisplayPort and 1x HDMI.” But as DisplayPort 1.1 max resolution: 3840 x 2160 / 30 Hz and DisplayPort 1.2 max resolution: 3840 x 2160 / 60 Hz why would you need this? Overall I would not recommend getting the monitor at all as it the first thing I saw on opening the box was a A5 paper saying “Notice for the LCD display. When static image are displayed for long periods of time, the image may cause an imprint on the LCD display. This is called image retention or burn-in.” Why was this not said on the pages advertising this product? And on top of that the monitor is port fussy too, which was not mention on the pages advertising this product too. For example the page could say: Only DisplayPort can run this monitor at the native resolution of 3440x1440.

Q: I am wanting to buy a iiyama ProLite XUB3493WQSU-B1. Do you know if my Radeon HD 7790 graphics card will drive this monitor well. Thank you.
Answer by Website User on 29th April 2020
It would be able to do this via DisplayPort, although it would not be powerful enough for any gaming. -MR

I did not see any information about this screen being susceptible to burn-in on the CCL or OEM page or on box but on opening the box I found a A5 page on the top of the box packaging saying Notice for the LCD display When static image are displayed for long periods of time, the image may cause an imprint on the LCD display. This is called image retention or burn-in. If I had known this before buy I would not had bought this monitor and if I did not need a dule or wide screen setup I would send it back. 300+ for a screen that can damage its self is too much! In other points: There is a lag in starting audio playback, so it misses start of audio track or the fist 3 to 5 word in text to speech if not playing any audio before or for a while. Attaching the base to the stand that is per attached is easy and it is easy to undo too. Build and casing are good. Screen menu navigation is doable. It would be nice if you could change the screen brightness through windows but other than that and the burn-in it is a okay screen.

In a nutshell... well built and great spec for the price. Brightness and picture quality from this IPS panel is excellent. This isn't a pro/colour calibrated monitor for professional graphics editing, nor is it trying to be. But it's not far off. After three months I have to say I've been mightily impressed by what you get for you money. It sports three display inputs - 2x HDMI and 1x DisplayPort and I use the Picture-By-Picture feature for a split-screen experience from separate physical inputs (niche use-case). The picture-by-picture (PbP) was a bit of a faff to set up, but that was probably the device I was hooking up to it rather than the monitor itself. One point to note - I could only get PbP working with 1 Display-Port and 1 HDMI port (not dual HDMI inputs). And for those of you asking, this is displaying two inputs at the same time (50% screen split), NOT displaying one input at a time (that works flawlessly). The build quality seems solid and the height adjustable stand is good. The stand mounting does let you rotate the monitor, which is useful for getting to the inputs, but being ultra-wide screen you can't fully rotate before hitting the desk. The instructions clearly say 'portrait' mode is not supported while mounted on the stand which is to be expected with ultra-wide screens. Is it a good monitor? Absolutely. Does it get the job done and well? Definitely. All in all an excellent monitor, no-nonsense, solidly built and extremely good value for money - I actually prefer it in everyday use to my 1k+ 32" pro 4K monitor that I use for photo editing!
