Q: Would this graphics card "Palit NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 1GB" be compatible with this motherboard bundle also which power supply unit would you recommend. thanks
Answer by Dan on 23rd April 2014
Yes, that would be fine and any decent quality supply of 400W or higher would be fine. -Danlevan

Q: in your professional opinion which motherboard bundle do you recommend for video editing & video enhancing please.
Answer by Dan on 10th February 2014
I'd recommend contacting our sales team on pcsales@cclonline.com with more detail on your requirements as depending on your needs this bundle may or may not be sufficient. You would also likely require a dedicated graphics card. -Danlevan

Q: I note your 2012 answers about Linux say changes in early 2013. Are you testing with Linux now? I have used Linux with your earlier barebones system with minor issues on sound. Can you recommend a power supply for use with the Alpha Enchant motherboard bundle?
Answer by CCL on 2nd August 2013
We're currently working on our compatability lists for Linux - with our hardware revisions constantly changing and with the changes in Linux releases it's proven to be a real challenge to keep up-to-date. At the moment, checking on the motherboard with this bundle shows that their are Linux drivers available for it so it should be okay - unfortunately we simply can't guarantee it. Regarding power supply, it would depend on other factors such as your graphics card and number of other devices you install, but we would recommend a good quality 80+ supply such as the one below: http://www.cclonline.com/product/99687/CP-9020009/Power-Supplies/CCL-Choice-450W-80-High-Efficiency-PSU/PSU0505/ -MR

Answer by CCL on 6th December 2012
The memory will work with this board and will run at 1333MHz instead of 1600MHz. Your graphics card will be fine also. This bundle is great for everyday use and offers extra power of the CPU when needed. Hope this helps. Regards Mike

Q: I'm confused. The images of the Alpha Enchant m/board bundle are not consistent. Images 1 and 5 do not match, and seem to display motherboards with different layouts. Which is correct, please, with particular regard to onboard connectors etc (which one matches the given specification, or is the spec incorrect?). Thanks, from Colin F
Answer by CCL on 1st November 2012
Hi there The image is for illustration only as sometimes the board we use needs to change. If you need to confirm the I/O ports on the board etc, if you check on the specification tab the details in there are always kept up to date to the current revision of the of the hardware used Hope this helps Regards Daniel

Q: I am considering the Alpha Enchant M/Board buindle to replace an Elite motherboard (661FXM) which has failed. It matches my requirements because it can take both Sata and IDE and has a PCI slot. The current power supply I have is a 350 watt type, with a conventional 20-pin connector and a 4 pin (yellow + black wires), It also has a white connector with 6 wires (red + purple + black). I intend to use the onboard graphics, not an extra graphics card. Will I need a different power supply? (There is a white socket on the m/board I do not recognise) Thanks, from Colin F
Answer by CCL on 30th October 2012
The current default motherboard in this bundle uses an 8-pin power connector instead of the 4-pin you have. This can be converted using CAB0801 which takes the 4-pin plus a Molex connection for the 8-pin. The 6-pin connection you have is for a graphics card, so you would not need to use it. Other than that, you should be fine with your existing supply. -Danlevan

all seems pretty standard equipment, Linux should be OK on that, but again "I can't guarantee it". All I can say is, I have purchased all my Computer components from CCL for the last 10 + years. I also run Linux, and Bsd, and oh yeah Windows. and so far have had no problems, partly because I do some research before purchasing, but mostly because CCL tend to stock good quality items which are mainstream and therefore supported by the kernel out of the box in most popular (mainstream) Linux distributions. It would be a nice gesture if CCL did do a compatibility check though, (just asking folks). I for one, would not expect CCL to "support" Linux ! That job is done by the Distribution, or the Linux community. But a simple compatibility check for hardware, now that would be nice ;0) Just pick a very popular Distribution, download and burn "live" version, boot hardware and check if it works, no drivers to install, no configuring, just, does it work out of the box yes or no. That's all I need. ;0) motherboards have different controllers for Ide, Sata, Usb, on-board graphics, Lan, sound etc etc, so this would be nice to have checked before purchase. For established equipment, Linux is very friendly (hard drives, cpu's, ram), but new or cutting edge equipment may not be supported yet. We (at least 2 of your customers) do not ask for Linux "support", just a hardware compatibility check Please ;0)

Answer by Website User on 17th December 2012
We are working on a way of letting our customers know of compatibility on our systems, barebones and bundles in the new year with Ubuntu and openSUSE. We hope to have this live in the first quarter of next year but will be provided as a general piece of information without warranty or support and for a specific version of each distribution. We will only at this point be testing 64bit versions of each distribution, much like with our offerings of only 64bit Windows we do not recommend on any of our current non-media systems run the older technology. Watch this space as CCL fully acknowledge that Linux is continually gathering momentum (although slower than I thought 10 years ago!) and we need to start addressing a growing customer bases needs.

Thank you CCL staff, that's all I (and I'm sure others) wanted to hear. What a fine Xmas present that is. I look forward to continuing business with you throughout 2013. I agree Linux take up has been slower than I thought too, I don't really know why now, it's great. Just don't expect to play modern games on it (yet). Although "STEAM" (for Linux) is in open beta testing now, this should start the ball rolling. Thank you again.

Q: What would a good entry level gaming graphics card be for this bundle? preferably under £50. Thanks.

For modern games I would suggest going for a DirectX 11 card, such as the one I have linked below: http://www.cclonline.com/product/53905/SXT4401024S3NM/Graphics-Cards/Sparkle-NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-440-1GB-Graphics-Card/VGA1587/
