SSDs are fast, but expensive, and offer minimal capacity. Mechanical hard drives boast large capacity for a low price, but are much slower than an SSD. AMD StoreMI technology “combines” these two types of storage into a single drive and automatically moves the data you access the most to the SSD. Every AMD Ryzen™ processor is multiplier-unlocked from the factory, so you can personalize performance to your taste. AMD provides the AMD Ryzen™ Master utility to access this powerful advantage.

Great CPU, mush faster than the one it replaced. The cooler that comes with it is nice and quiet and seems to do the job.

Excellent processor for gaming. I'm getting an average of 25+ FPS using the same Radeon RX 580 Nitro+ 8GB as I was in my old i7 3600 build. Come with the Wraith Stealth Cooler. Similar pricing to Amazon etc (maybe even slightly cheaper) but they are in stock at CCL and not Amazon. First time using CCL and can't recommend them enough. Will 100% be my go-to place for PC Parts.

After about 15 years away from AMD and siding with Intel, I'm very pleased I took the leap and went back. The Ryzen 5 3600 has a great price point and no issues with everyday computing, with video editing photo editing and 3D modeling thrown in.

Moving from a 4 core 4 thread 4690k everything from gaming to day to day use is so much better. Tasks like file conversions are done incredibly faster while being cooler thus quieter.

I'm giving the RZYEN 5 stars because I am a fanboi. However I'm not as enammered with the full package as I was with my very first RYZEN 5 1600 purchase. That came with a pretty good cooler with some thickness and weight behind it. Honestly it was overkill because the RYZEN simply did not get that hot. This RYZEN comes with a rather weedy little cooler which failed to keep the temperature below 70C. It was actually gaming at a steady 81C after 20 minutes at 50% CPU usage. This 3rd generation of the RYZEN 5 with it's 6 cores is actually just as powerful as my 8 core gen 1 RYZEN 7. Possibly more so since it can spin up a single core well over 4GHz, the old RYZEN 7s were not so good at that. I've had to spend 40 to get a better cooler for it as I'm really not satisfied. The chip itself is so good there is little need for the hotter overclockable X version. However financially it would have made more sense to buy the X version which comes with a beefier cooler with LEDs in it. As I've said before, LEDs make it work better.

This CPU is excellent value proposition as the cost per performance is excellent. I never thought I would notice too much difference in gaming (previously using 2600), however, in older games like Starcraft 2 which is almost completely single/dual core dependant, there was a marked improvement, expecially in large army/supply situations...less of a slide show. So far it has worked flawlessly, no issues so stress free thus far. Used for gaming/video viewing/music/internet browsing+shopping/streaming and is great. Highly recommended.

Pleasantly surprised as this is my first foray into AMD processors since last century ! The bang for the buck, compared to Intel, was just too high to ignore. The switchover on Windows 10 and UBUNTU 18 was painless - I just swapped out the motherboard and processor then rebooted the old disks and let the systems sort themselves out. Windows gave some licensing issues but that was all. I am using this primarily for X-Plane on UBUNTU . X-Plane is very single threaded but the Ryzen/Ubuntu combo manage to share the workload out amongst all 12 cores giving a pleasing extra increase in performance that I was not expecting.

While pricing for this chip can be volatile, its performance is Not. The Ryzen 5 3600 is a Beast of a CPU, its 6 cores and 12 threads making light work of all but the heaviest workloads. I love this chip, and I'm proud to be part of the AMD future.

Superb value for money CPU, but make sure you get a third-party CPU heatsink.

Paul

Ryzen 5 is ok. I should probably say that any slowness is going to come from the Operating system at this point. Windows will still lag and things won't go quite well. Chrome will still use all your RAM and the CPU will never really be taxed. It's overkill for a standard desktop and even playing the Witcher it's not taxed at all.

Solid CPU but be careful if you're trying to get this to work with a B450 Motherboard since I had to jump through a bunch of hoops with the bios and windows settings to get it to work without hiccuping. Also you may want to apply your own thermal paste because AMD put a lot on from I the box. But apart from that it's an awesome processor.

Great cpu works well and fast enough for gaming ect i have it in a x570 aorus elite with 2x8gb of 2933 and a rtx 2070 super I swapped the cooler out for a wraith prism due to having a glass side panel runs cool max temp ive seen is 57 and idles in the low 30s I would expect that to maybe be slightly higher with the stock cooler but not by a great deal a nice touch of the cooler facing down is the airflow onto motherboard components keeping them cooler than usual.

Excellent 'bang for buck'; picked it up for under 190 from CCL computers; big step up in performance from even the previous Gen Ryzen 6 cores. It works great although there are a few teething issues with the new zen 2 range regarding boost speeds and voltages for some people, I found it hasn't impacted on performance for me. I found new install of windows and enabling the 'cool and quiet' feature keeps the voltages down and still enables boosts to 4.175ghz on more than 1 core with all core boost to 4.0ghz

I bought two items from CCL and had a lot of trouble with one, which appeared to have been faulty on arrival. Their customer service was amazing though, and after spending time with me on the phone trying to help me fix the problem, they sent me a postage label so that I could send ALL my computer parts (including those not bought by CCL) in for testing. The tests were very helpful and they sent back my parts within a week, with a follow-up phone call to help me understand the results. My computer is now in full working order at no extra cost. Amazing service and staff. Ill be shopping with them a lot in future!

Excellent value of money if you want a Zen2 chip, the 2700x is a similar price so you'll have to decide which is better for you given your circumstances but you won't go wrong with this chip for 90% of your tasks.

ultimate bang for buck cpu. finally upgrading from i5 750, crazy to see how much the technology has come on. was tempted to go for 3700x but in the end, extra two cores didn't justify the jump in price. may upgrade to 3950x next year if there are decent savings to be had by then.

Luke

Amazing value for speed, consumes less power than my old FX6300. Only problem was the stock cooler which pulled my CPU out of the socket after I unscrewed it (cause of the tension), luckily it only bent a few pins and was easily fixed.

Absolute beast of a CPU for the money I can't believe how amazing it is. For my video editing and rendering is has made everything so much faster. Has a few teething issues with the bios and the b450 pro carbon but when I finally built and got it all going. I ham 100% happy.

Great service from CCL as usual, the processor arrived on time and well packaged. I had already purchased a MSI Tomahawk B450 motherboard for this new build, updated the Bios using the built in flash back option with no problems, popped in the processor and booted for the first time with no problems. The processor is a lot snappier than my old i7 4770. Its good to have competition in the processor market again.

Bought this cpu and stuck it on an MSI b450i Gaming ac board (with their beta bios) 16gb 3200 ddr4 and seems to work great. I am still on a GTX 970 and can still game with this (and even a 2600 before i passed it on to the missus). Temps are ok with everything in a very small case (Sliverstone SG13) on a Corsair push/pull AIO. I mainly game and i know my GPU is the limiting factor right now but other than that are some issues, when i turn on my pc nothing happens until i keep my finger on the power button and when it turns off and i press it again it boots up fine. Gaming temps are around 55 degrees which is higher than the 2600 i had in the exact same setup. Idle volts are high too, a lot of talk about this online, its interesting. Other than that i can run Battlefield V with high settings and it never drops below 60fps, i do have this plugged into my living room tv which is 60hz mind, was the same with the 2600 but it did drop to 58-59 once or twice in that game lol. Great chip, hopefully i will have it as long as i had the legendary i7 2600k

Laszlo

I had a r3 2200g before, that was a steal, a capable igpu for 900p gaming and a free decent cpu, like a few years old i5. As the gpu prices settled down and there were prime day I got an rx580 for cheap there was time for a 7nm CPU. This is an i7 8700k level CPU for an i5 price, all the tasks where the r3 2200g was struggling the 3600x handle smooth (somehow it feels bigger difference than the benchmarks shows) and even half of the CPU is sleeping (core parking) :D A big step from ryzen gen1.5, 200+ cinebench score (single) vs 145. Games: 120-140 fps gaming with rx580 1080p,high, few years old titles. But this CPU can handle much stronger GPUs, a bit overkill for this. Downside is the BIOS issue, it needs fresh bios (before install the cpu) if you buy with a not fresh motherboard.

T Wallis

Easy to set up with a motherboard that had the right BIOS on it, getting good performance from it for the money.

therealist

Runs a bit hot making it difficult to hit max frequency on all cores (I'm using a Corsair H100i). However, for the money this is an excellent value CPU and is plenty powerful for gaming at 1440p as you're likely GPU limited anyway.
