I built a new PC around a Ryzen 5 3600. I had heard good things around the stock cooler so thought I may as well save a few s and go with that.
On the first day of testing the new build I was getting unexplained shutdowns of my PC. I discovered I had the bios set to power down at CPU temp of >90.
Clearly not a great situation. I didn't wan't to turn this feature off, or have a crashing PC. My case was mATX, and quite small, so choice of cooling limited. I didn't fancy the liquid route.
Quick search showed this to be the best according to the reviews. They weren't wrong. Compact (though way bigger than stock). Keeps the CPU around 30 degrees cooler than before. So both a cooler CPU and increased performance from more sustained turbo boosting. WIN-WIN! It's also pretty quiet.
Lose 1* for VFM, as it is expensive, but I think worth it, especially if case leaves little room for anything bigger.
