Kolink is steadily becoming renowned for their ability to create quality cases at very competitive prices. Now they have released the extremely stylish KLA-002 Midi-Tower. The front is manufactured from premium quality plastic with the look of brushed aluminium. The tidy and well-designed interior of the KLA-002 offers plenty of space for hardware as well as watercooling - and the cable management options only add to the premium feel of the case as a whole. Despite focusing on value for money, Kolink's refusal to compromise on quality makes their cases an excellent choice for gamers.

Plenty of Space for Hardware

The robust chassis is made from one millimetre-thick SECC steel and has a stylish plastic front section that takes after brushed aluminium in its appearance. The power supply would be placed at the top of the case towards the rear, while also offering space for up to two hard drives in front beneath the HDD cage. An additional HDD can be installed onto the reverse side of the motherboard tray. Alternatively, should you prefer, two 2.5" SDDs be installed. The case also reserves plenty of space for cable management.

In order to keep the hardware installed in the case cool, the case includes a pre-installed 80 mm fan that exhausts warm air out of the spacious case. The front of the case allows for two 120 mm fans. Those who prefer watercooling on the other hand will appreciate the case's ability to support a 240 mm radiator. Large air vents in the front cover also help ensure the interior is kept well-supplied with fresh air. The left side of the case also supports an 80- or 120 mm fan.

Graphics cards up to 35 cm in length are supported and CPU coolers up to 15 cm in height are also compatible. Additionally, the I/O panel located on the front provides a USB 3.0 Type A port in addition to two USB 2.0 ports.

Easy case to build a simple home system in. Nothing fancy or anything I've that. No cable management tie downs so it can look a bit messy

Excellent service from CCL as always. However I have to be honest, this case is terrible for heat retention; even with an extra intake fan it stays hotter than other micro ATX cases. Spend a few more pounds and get something a bit better.

June 2019

The product description for the Kolink KLA-002 case seems to be wrong in some important respects: 1 The case has one external 5.25" drive bay, not two. There is a two-bay drive cradle at the top of the case but a) the top front panel section doesn't seem to be removable and b) the cradle can't even be used for a hard drive as all the top panel cables exit via the bay. (And this being a slimline case they can't be routed alongside the bay.) 2 The case has two usable spaces for internal 3.5" drives not three if you are using HDDs. There is a two-bay drive cradle at the base of the case and a pair of holes marked HDD at the bottom of the case, presumably so you can mount a drive on its side. The latter position can't be used however. For some reason the top drive in the two-bay cradle mounts further back than the lower drive. Just enough to foul a hard drive you try to mount in the vertical drive position. Grrr. I bought the case to rehouse an old full tower PC that needed to fit into a tighter position. The problems above meant one optical drive and one hard drive had nowhere to go. I may get inventive and find a way of fixing the extra hard drive in position. A few additional comments: I haven't used any of the 2.5" drive fixing positions so can't comment on any issues with them. Only a few of the PCB pillars were in place, presumably enough for a small PCB but a full set were supplied and they were easy enough to screw into position. Both side panels come off, making it easy to put screws in both sides of the drives. The front panel is plastic and easy to mark. The area of case behind the front panel consists of s a large area of plastic 'chickenwire', which is great for air flow but not for screening. (I don't like my PCs spraying radio interference around via plastic panels, so may do something about this.) The case & drive bays are made of lightweight material which can bend if you aren't careful. Personally I wanted a lightweight case, so am happy with the compromise. Despite the issues noted above I'm otherwise happy with the case and decided to keep it.
