Having bought a GTX 1070 a couple of years ago, I was starting to notice dropped frames and less than 60FPS in games like Kingdom Come Deliverance and in VR on Elite: Dangerous. I waited with baited breath for the 2000 series of cards. Initially disappointed with the benchmarks and ridiculous price, I waited for months and months for the price to come down and drivers to improve. Then I heard about AMD upcoming new 7nm GPU, so I waited again. After being disappointed (again), I decided to look into the 2080 as that seemed to be the best value for money (for me). Usually I wouldn't go for an entry level 2080 and would get the top of the range O/C version. However for the sake of a few single digit FPS and a saving of well over 100, I decided on the Ventus. It came with Anthem, BF5 and 30 of steam vouchers. Not bothered about the "free" games, but vouchers are always welcome. It's a great card, good performance in Elite in VR (HMD image quality set to 1.5) & handles everything else at Ultra (though only hits ~35FPS in Ratay in KC:D - have to drop settings to Very high in that city). I'm very glad I upgraded. Got 200 cash for my 1070, so the new card cost me 470. Not bad for a noticeable increase in performance.

Cant really give any 2080 a high score for value for money, but this easily overclocks to much higher boost speeds with Afterburner beta that are far higher than the boasts seen on the high end cards. Ok so its not got pretty lights, but for an saving 50+ quid, count me in!
