Hi This is a simple plug and play device. Connecting the item to anything using a USB header the device will recognize the drive and off you go.

Q: I bought Maxtor 1TB about 5 months ago, and now it is not recognised with any kind of OS's I tried to recover the partition/access data on it nothing works for me. The actual blue light does not come on. Any advice will be apreciated.

We do not have a technical team here who can provide troubleshooting help. I would recommend contacting our returns team on 01274 471205 to get this back for testing. Alternatively you can contact the manufacture for technical help.

It will come pre-formatted in NTFS for a PC, you would need to reformat it in the MacOS Journal format to use it with your Mac. -Danlevan

Q: What is the minimum voltage for this hard drive to run, can it be powered from a USB 2 slot (at 5volts) or does it require USB 3's higher voltage output?

The manufacturer doesn't list a minimum voltage, it will work on a USB 2 port without issue. -Danlevan

This is a fast, quiet, reliable hard drive. The cable is long enough to reach my back PC USB port and connecting and disconnecting is quick. One complaint I have is about the packaging. The cable is folded such that I received mine with a dent in it.
