There has been a lot of speculation that Borderlands 2 could be heading to the Wii U some time in the near future, Borderlands 2 developers Gearbox said them selves that they would keep an open mind and conciser the option if there was enough interest. Well that was the past, this is now and it seems that Borderlands 2 just isn't going to be happening for Nintendo's latest party trick.

The reason behind this is that Gearbox couldn't figure out how to take advantage of the Wii U's unique hardware, with no immediate ways to put the consoles features to good use.

“We get asked if there is going to be a Wii U version of Borderlands, and the reason why there’s not is because we couldn't think of a natural, obvious, ‘OMG, I want that for what the Wii U brings to the table’ feature.” - Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford, while speaking with Gamesmaster.

He went on to draw contrast with the new Aliens game, in which the touch screen becomes your motion tracker, stating that there would be nothing like this for Borderlands 2 that they can work with.

This is a worrying choice for such a big developer and could be a sign that some developers don't feel they can make games for the Wii U without a "gimmick"... starting to sound like the original Wii all over again.

There is the obvious unwritten reason here also, Borderlands 2 has already made a giant pile of money, why would they invest the dev time to hit a currently small user base?
