According to the Financial Times, Microsoft are considering opening stores in the UK next year and I for one am really looking forward to seeing this happen. It would be nice to see an alternative to Apple stores, I just hope they just don’t open the one in London and look at, say, Manchester please Mr Ballmer.
The software giant is hoping to emulate the success of the afore mentioned Apple, which opened its first store a decade ago and has demonstrated that its retail experience is just as important for building its brand as for pushing its products.
Microsoft is expected to open its flagship UK store in London, although the firm has yet to confirm but what has caught my eye is anonymous sources are claiming that the company has been in talks with UK landlords.
There is a big question of what might be sold in these stores, considering that a wide range of hardware manufacturers from Samsung to HTC produce laptops and phones running on Windows software, I suppose that is the flagship store in Times Square, New York City is anything to go by the any store will be wholly dedicated to the Surface tablet.
