Spec Ops: The Line is to get a two-player co-operative mode as a free downloadable content (DLC) update from publishers 2K Games.

The DLC will include four "fast-paced missions" that have their own individual objective, settings and playable characters, providing a completely different way to play the game separate from the single player campaign.

Two gamers can work together in the middle-eastern city of Dubai after it has been wrecked by recurrent sandstorms to fight wave after wave of enemies, using teamwork and a variety of weapons, explosives and equipment to reach their goal.

Players who have yet to give Spec Ops: The Line but like co-operative video games should certainly give the title a try, especially as there is an engaging single-player mode as well as a competitive online multiplayer they can get their hands on too.

The plot follows an elite Delta Force group led by Captain Martin Walker on a mission to find the decorated officer Colonel Konrad, while evacuating survivors from the devastated city. It is inspired by a Joseph Conrad novella Heart of Darkness, while it also bears resemblance to the film Apocalypse Now, which was a Vietnam War film also influenced by the book.

It uses classic third person shooter gameplay mechanics, with a lot of emphasis on using cover and squad-based tactics. Gamers can give directions to their AI controlled teammates, such as telling them to focus their firepower on a particular location or telling someone to heal an injured squad member.

One of the more original aspects of the game is how sanity can have an influence on characters, with lead protagonist Walker having hallucinations and making his enemy executions more violent.

In the multiplayer mode there are six game types spread across seven maps, with an array of customisable load outs, leader boards and challenges for players. ADNFCR-1220-ID-801434199-ADNFCR
