A terrifying audio-only adventure game BlindSide has been released on the PC through the digital distribution website Desura.

Using technical custom audio algorithms BlindSide is able to convert any pair of stereo headphone into a makeshift surround sound system, allowing gamers to play the game using only their ears.

Although there is nothing but darkness on screen, players can use keyboard controls to navigate the physical environment. But, despite not being able to see anything, rest assured, there are monsters out there looking to get your blood, so you will have to learn to use the audio to stay alive while trying to solve the mystery of why you can no longer see.

There are more than 1,000 sound effects and pieces of dialogue in the title, providing challenging gameplay and an exciting take on audio-only horror video gaming.

Available for only £2.99 through Desura, it's worth that just to see how well this innovative idea is implemented, and whether it makes for an enjoyable and worthwhile gaming experience.

Desura is a community driven service that brings together the best games, mods and downloadable content for gamers to buy and play. It tries to help developers make their dream games by providing tools to perfect the product and share it with the Desura community.

Although similar in premise to Valve's distribution service Steam, Desura differs in that it focuses on independent video games made by developers who do not have the necessary weight to work with Valve.

Games that have been recently released through Desura include Monster Truck Racing - Extreme Offroad, Battlezone: Airhunt, Loren the Amazon Princess and Salvation Prophecy.

Some of its mods, which are available at no cost, include Half-Life 2 mods Aberration, Gateways, That and Zombie Master Black Edition.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801420522-ADNFCR
