Left 4 Dead 2 Cold Stream to be released this month

A new DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 entitled Cold Stream is due to release later this month.

The upcoming downloadable content (DLC) for Left 4 Dead 2, titled Cold Stream, is set for release on July 24th.

It will include a community-made campaign, as well as the classic maps Death Toll, Dead Air, Blood Harvest and Crash Course, with developers Valve also hinting at some other additions without giving too much away.

"There are some other surprises and details we will give you later but for now we just want to confirm an often requested feature," said a statement on the Left 4 Dead blog.

This much-demanded addition is for mutations to be available at all times.

Many gamers have had the opportunity to play Cold Stream already, since it was first announced in February last year and has been publically tested for more than a year. The developer has been tinkering with the map by gathering information on how gamers have been playing it, making adjustments to it accordingly.

Meanwhile, Valve's Left 4 Dead team has been working on a collaboration with Overkill Entertainment, the developers of Payday: The Heist, to create a title that brings the best of both games together.

Originally rumoured to be a prequel to Left 4 Dead, Valve's Chet Faliszek quashed the murmurs, saying: "If that happens, then it will make this other thing we’re doing feel uncool, when the thing we’re doing is really cool."

Left 4 Dead is considered to be the granddaddy of all zombie games in recent years, with its blend of fast-paced, first-person-shooter zombie action with tactical cooperative play providing endless hours of amusement.

In it players take control of one of four protagonists known only as the Survivors who have to fight against hordes of infected zombies. The other three characters can either be played by AI or by other human gamers in online play.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801405312-ADNFCR
