Rambo: The Video Game will be playable at Gamescom

Rambo: The Video Game will be unveiled for demonstration at Gamescom next month.

Rambo the video game will be coming to the PC and consoles later this year.

The much anticipated re-imagining of the classic Sylvester Stallone movie franchise has been on the cards since last year, when UK publisher Reef Entertainment announced their plans to pursue the title.

So far, all that has emerged is some artwork featuring Stallone in a variety of action freezes, emblazoned with the title Rambo: The Video Game.

Reef marketing boss Craig Lewis said: "During this time we have been dedicated to creating a videogame for consoles and PC that will allow Rambo fans and gamers across the globe to really get under the skin of Rambo and wield his iconic weapon-set in battle."

However, further details about the game are expected to emerge in August, at the Cologne-based Gamescom event.

Moreover, attendees could even get a chance to test drive the game ahead of its full release.

Speaking to MCV UK, the publisher's general manager, Will Curley, explained: "We thought now was the time to get it into the hands of gamers.

"We have been working hard to get the game looking as authentic as possible so we are really looking forward to all the visitor's feedback."

Former war titles from Reef include Sniper Elite for the Wii and World War Zero for the PC.

In World War Zero, set in an alternate reality after the Russian Revolution, players take on the role of James Anderson, infiltrating key enemy positions through the emerging Russo-Mongolian empire.

Like Rambo, Lieutenant Anderson has an impressive arsenal of destructive fire power at his disposal, which he must put to use over 16 expansive levels.

Simulator Sniper Elite showcases Reef's software finesse, with impressive bullet physics and windage to simulate the experience of a sniper on the frontline during the 1945 battle for Berlin.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801403644-ADNFCR
