Battlefield 3 gamers can now purchase the exciting new downloadable content (DLC) entitled Close Quarters.

The themed expansion aims to bring the enthralling team play of Battlefield 3 into claustrophobic and intense indoor environments, providing frantic close quarters infantry combat to keep players hooked to the title.

Four new maps, ten weapons, five unique dogtags, ten new assignments and two new game modes come with the expansion, as well as the exciting new high definition destruction feature, which lets players destroy the environment in all-new ways.

Conquest Domination is the first of the new modes, which adapts the original Conquest game type to better fit the smaller maps that come with the DLC. The capture radius of the control points have been made smaller and they can be conquered in a quicker time in order to speed up the pace of the game.

Gun Master is the other game type, which is similar to the Gun Game mod for Counter-Strike: Source. In it, gamers race to be the first to make a kill with every weapon, finishing with a tricky knife kill. When a player makes a kill with a weapon, they immediately receive the next one fully loaded. If they are killed, they drop down a level.

There are two new weapons for each of the four classes, as well as two that can be used by any class, they include the likes of the SPAS-12 shotgun and the AUG A3 assault rifle.

The four new maps are Donya Fortress, Operation 925, Scrapmetal and Ziba Tower. Of note is Ziba Tower, which is the smallest Battlefield 3 map yet to be made, and Operation 925, whose layout requires a very systematic approach to battle.

Close Quarters is available through Electronic Arts' online store Origin for £11.99.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801394621-ADNFCR
