Nvidia to launch GeForce GTX 690 this month

Nvidia's GeForce GTX 690 is to set a new standard for graphical performance.

Nvidia has launched the GeForce GTX 690, which is set to be the fastest consumer graphics card on the market.

It has a dual GPU interface using Kepler architecture-based GeForce hardware that has been painstakingly designed to maximise gaming performance to the most refined and smooth levels possible.

The exotic design of the graphics card has been combined with an array of state-of-the-art technologies to create a piece of kit that not only looks the part but has the performance to boot.

An exterior aluminium frame protects the card's inner workings, giving it excellent strength and durability while a fan housing made from thixomolded magnesium alloy keeps the card cool and minimises vibrations.

Power delivery is brought through a ten-phase long-lasting supply on a two-ounce copper printed circuit board.

Gamers will barely hear the card as it whirs into action due to ducted baseplate channels that allow for unhindered airflow and, therefore, the bare minimum of turbulence.

There are 3,072 Nvidia CUDA cores within the GTX 690, which allow for double the frame rate performance of the next best single core GPU, the GTX 680.

"The GTX 690 is truly a work of art - gorgeous on the outside with amazing performance on the inside," said Brian Kelleher, senior vice president of GPU engineering at Nvidia.

"Gamers will love playing on multiple screens at high resolutions with all the eye candy turned on. And they'll relish showing their friends how beautiful the cards look inside their systems."

The GTX 690 was a surprise announcement by Nvidia chief executive and co-founder Jen-Hsun Huang during the Nvidia Game Festival in Shanghai, which has brought together over 6,000 gaming enthusiasts from across China.

There are a number of competitions taking place at the festival, with the best competitors in Starcraft II, League of Legends and the Defence of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos all battling it out for big cash prizes. ADNFCR-1220-ID-801354161-ADNFCR
