New AMD APUs to boost video and gaming experience

AMD's new Trinity APU is set to enhance the video and gaming experience of users.

Last quarter AMD began shipping the second generation of its A-Series accelerated processing unit (APU), which comes under the codename Trinity.

The new technology will boost both video and gaming experiences as well as improve the battery life of any notebook that uses the system.

Trinity improves on every single aspect of the previous generation of APUs, which were named Llano, while simultaneously doubling the performance per watt. Its Piledriver modular CPU should improve processing speeds by 29 per cent.

When combined with the AMD Radeon HD 7000 discrete-class graphic cores, there will be a 56 per cent boost in graphical performance and an increase in the possibility for more applications to be run smoothly and simultaneously.

Trinity will be best utilised with premium, ultrathin notebooks but can also be used with embedded devices and desktop computers.

AMD has really focused on the importance of having impressive graphical performance when using a computer with its new A-Series component.

"With 'Trinity' we will introduce AMD HD Media Accelerator, a collection of exclusive new AMD technologies to set the high bar for high-definition multimedia experiences," said Sara Marinkovic, the senior manager of desktop and AMD software product marketing.

She added that this will provide "an image, video processing and display technology that automatically makes images and video better with color vibrancy adjustments, edge enhancement, noise reduction and dynamic contrast fixes".

The Media AMD HD Media Accelerator also promises to improve streaming with AMD Quick Stream technology, which makes for smoother, uninterrupted video playback.

In addition, AMD Steady Video technology will eliminate "shakes and jitters" when home video is played back, which can be delivered through a web browser plug-in.

"We’re obviously very excited about the second generation APU and the possibilities it unlocks. With the AMD HD Media Accelerator, highly optimised software takes advantage of next-generation hardware to deliver an unparalleled multimedia experience," said Mr Marinkovic.

Trinity should be available worldwide very soon.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801347094-ADNFCR
