A Kickstarter page has been launched by Replay Games to fund a remake of the 1987 Sierra On-Line adventure game Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.

Kickstarter is a crowd funding website for creative endeavours whereby fans pledge money to a project in order to finance its development.

The Leisure Suit Larry campaign is asking for $500,000 (£312,353) from backers in order to make the game a reality.

"The team that created Leisure Suit Larry One has been reassembled to create a 2012 ‘Reloaded’ version," reads the statement on Kickstarter.

"Al Lowe, Josh Mandel, Sabine Duvall, and Leslie Balfour have teamed up with Replay Games to form what we call ‘The Dream Team’ of adventure games. We’ll be making Leisure Suit Larry One-Seven and keeping you guys informed every step of the way."

Features that will be added to the remake include the freedom to play the game on mobile devices, a modernised point-and-click gaming interface, high resolution graphics, full voice acting and even more gags and jokes.

However, depending on if and how far the developers exceed their goal, other things may be added to the title.

This could consist of voice-over translations to as many languages as possible, ports to additional platforms such as PSN, XBLA and Mac and a live orchestra playing songs from the series in-game.

The firm is also willing to listen to any requests that fans of the game have in order to make it a better experience for all.

Backers can get a large number of prizes depending on the size of their pledge.

The minimum donation to receive a gift is $15 (£9.30), which earns fans a DRM-free virtual copy of the game.

As backers pledge more they can receive the soundtrack, artwork, a role in the alpha and beta testing, branded condoms, a likeness of themselves in the game and $10,000 (£6,251) can even get you a lunch date with the game's creator, Al Lowe.

The Leisure Suit Larry franchise follows a balding 40-something loser named Larry Laffer on his adventures to seduce attractive women. There have been eight games in the series, with the last title appearing in 2009 on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. ADNFCR-1220-ID-801332725-ADNFCR
