Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 facing influx of hackers

Call of Duty's creative strategist leaves the developer, Infinity Ward, as Modern Warfare 3 is being undone by many hackers.

There is nothing worse when playing your favourite online first-person shooter than finding out that you keep repeatedly dying because a deceitful cheat is altering the game to make it easier for them.

Infinity Ward, the developer behind the Call of Duty series, is having to deal with such a problem as an influx of hackers are rendering Modern Warfare 3 unplayable for many honest online gamers.

Cheaters have successfully managed to create and implement a modified lobby in the game that allows some individuals to access God mode, which gives players an incredible advantage including much advanced moving speed and unlimited ammo.

The hack is affecting both PC and Xbox 360 versions of the title and it is unclear whether the developer has the situation under control.

Initially, the company's fix involved shutting down servers but this was not a resounding success as many modified lobbies had made their way to the client side consoles of the gamers.

To avoid facing-off with players at an unfair advantage, Infinity Ward suggests that if gamers get an invite for a private match from an unknown stranger they should immediately reject it.

There are rumours that suggest the proliferation of hackers has something to do with the recent announcement that the Call of Duty community manager and creative strategist Robert Bowling has left the company.

He announced via Twitter: "Today, I resign from my position as creative strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision."

Activision have since confirmed the news, adding: “We sincerely thank Robert for his many years of service. He’s been a trusted and valued member of the Infinity Ward team. We wish him all the best on his decision to pursue future opportunities.”

He was seen by many as the face of the company, having helped it to rise to fame as the best-selling video game franchise in history.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801328473-ADNFCR
