Assassin's Creed 3 to fight the Revolution

Some details have been released about Assassin's Creed 3, which will be set in the American Revolution.

The first details of Assassin's Creed 3 have been revealed, and we are definitely heading to the US for the Revolution.

After the second series of the historical fiction action adventure game delivered three hugely popular trips through the Renaissance era, speculation had been rife about where the story would head next.

The American Revolution was a good bet, and it has been confirmed by Game Informer's trip to see developer Ubisoft Montreal.

Two cities will be the main focus of AC3: Boston and New York. These played arguably the most important roles in the American Revolution, as they were the settings for numerous public uprisings against the colonial British rule, such as the Boston Tea Party and the Battle of Bunker Hill.

New York's participation in the game can be seen from screenshots showing the aftermath of the Great Fire of New York, which some believe destroyed up to a quarter of the city and hampered the ability of the British to retain control.

The layout of the narrow streets, tall buildings and ships at the docks will give the new protagonist Connor (born Ratohnhaketon) plenty of scope to engage in the usual climbing, jumping and swinging form the previous games.

However, the timing of the setting is likely to mean that these landscapes continues to develop throughout the game. Players will also be able to explore the wild frontier, and will have to adjust to different gameplay in the changing seasons.

Key battles of the Revolution will be central to the gameplay, it is noted, but Ubisoft has decided to give Connor his own special missions in the middle of the bloody conflicts, rather than just playing another soldier.

Connor, born a Mohawk Native American, will be joined in the game by characters such as Ben Franklin, George Washington and Charles Lee.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801316854-ADNFCR
