Release for Aliens: Colonial Marines pushed back

Aliens: Colonial Marines will now not be released until mid-autumn, it has been confirmed.

The game based on classic movie Aliens has been delayed by around six months, according to the developer.

Aliens: Colonial Marines was due for release on PC Xbox and PlayStation 3 in the spring, with publisher Sega saying as much in a press release from last year.

Yet the developer Gearbox has now confirmed to Computer and Video Games that it has had to push back the release date, pencilling it in for mid-autumn instead

A representative from Gearbox said that there is no particular problem with the title, they have simply decided to take more time to ensure that finished product is as good as it can be, considering how popular it is likely to be.

"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a process of creativity and invention and those don't necessarily follow the structure of an assembly line," said the rep.

They went on to add that all goals, deadlines and predictions in terms of game development should be considered subjective anyway.

"We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritising this goal over the previously targeted date."

A leaked picture of the collector's edition of the game surfaced earlier this month, with details on the special weapons that will be provided for the game: an M240 Flamethrower, M577 A2 Smart Gun, and M41A Pulse Rifle upgrade.

Those buying the collector's edition will also get a new game mode, USCM (United States Colonial Marine Corps) Academy Firing Range, and a detailed resin display model depicting a marine fighting an alien while wearing a power loader suit similar to the one Sigourney Weaver's Ripley uses at the end of the movie.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801277409-ADNFCR
