Intel gives OCZ Deneva2 SSDs seal of approval

Intel has approved the OCZ Deneva2 SSDs for use in it ultrabooks.

OCZ Technology Group has announced it has passed a key stage in the development of its Deneva2 30GB and 60GB mini serial advanced technology attachment (mSATA) solid-state drives (SSDs).

The two Deneva2 devices were handed over to processor manufacturing giant Intel, which with the aid of tested with its Smart Response Technology, has deemed that they pass the performance benchmarks for the 'While Using' portion of the responsiveness requirements in the 2012 Ultrabook Definition.

OCZ says this is a significant milestone, as Intel ultrabooks combine "best-in-class performance, responsiveness, and security", and therefore utilise only SSDs that will provide faster and more energy-efficient options that mechanical hard disk drives.

"We are pleased with the results that Intel has achieved with our Deneva2 mSATA products," said Tobias Brinkmann, vice-president of partner relations at OCZ Technology Group.

"The Deneva2 SSDs have a very small footprint making them ideal for the slim and stylish ultrabook designs, and also deliver exceptionally fast bootup and data transfer speeds for a superior instant-on and overall more responsive computing experience."

Being slimmer than traditional 2.5-inch storage devices, the Deneva2 parts allow Intel to use a profile thickness dimension of less than 21mm, without having to compromise on storage capacity, battery life or computing speed.

OCZ explained: "Deneva's ability to provide a custom-tailored solution ensures superior cost efficiency, functionality, and compatibility that other SSD lines cannot deliver."

Last month, the firm announced that the Deneva 2 SSD Series has been qualified by Olive for integration into its award-winning O4HD and O6HD music servers.

OCZ believes that the SSDs will provide superior performance and energy efficiency, while reducing the amount of electronic noise produced and therefore enhancing the listening experience.

Olive will offer both their O4HD and O6HD music servers with OCZ Deneva 2 SSDs in either 240GB or 480GB capacities, capable of storing up to 1,500 albums.ADNFCR-1220-ID-801257931-ADNFCR
