TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited) is rumoured to be relocating its factories to the states, New York State to be exact.

The rumor has it that the company is working on something called "Project Azalea", a code name given to the project by Deloitte, who is conducting a site search in New York State for the company. At the moment they haven't said which company they are site searching for but it does now seem that this search is for TSMC.

This is a multi billion dollar project and its one that needs a massive 3.2 million square feet of construction space, a project that would also take a thousand people to complete, no small task then. Confidential documents were obtained by The business Review Deloitte state that they have looked around the Luther Forest Technology Camuper (Seratoga County) and a 430 acre site called Marcy Nanocenter (SUNYIT Utica).

Bill Owens, a US Representative flew out to Taiwan last year to pitch upstate to the cheif financial officer of TSMC, he wants TSMC in his state, no doubt for financial gain reasons of course.

Not sure what the working is behind all this, but the premise of "spend money to make money" is a sure fit, as always though we will keep you posted of any further developments.
