Toshiba Plant Recovered From Floods

Chip manufacturing resumes in Thailand.

A year after the Thailand facility of Toshiba's semiconductor plant was stuck by a massive flood, production has once again begun for the manufacturer.

Toshiba are the leading chip manufacturer in Japan and last years flood was a massive set back not only for the company but also many of its workers as everything from equipment to transport routes were damaged. Good news for all then as production began once again at the plant on the 1st of this month and Toshiba said in a statement that shipments of their computer and mobile platform processors started leaving the plant on Wednesday.

The floods had a big impact on hard drive supplies and prices last year and as a result Toshiba are hard at work building new facilities in Purachinburi in Thailand, with the plan to move all production to the new facility next year.
