So who is ready for Christmas then? yup I'm not either, for those of you who said "got it all sorted"... good for you haha. But just like every other year, we can't ignore that it's coming and it doesn't matter if you're a gamer, or the parent, partner or friend of a gamer, this holiday seasons big gifts for many will be digital. Game publishers are all starting the big fight for the Christmas #1 sales spot, they wan't to be "that game" and they want you to buy it, it's that simple.
So here is my pick of what I think will be the big hit releases of November, sure it's not Christmas yet but this is when the Christmas games start their journey. Last month we saw Resident Evil 6, Borderlands 2, Fifa 13 and many more stunning titles see very successful launches with sales that will only sky rocket as we approach the end of 2012. The action hasn't dried up yet though as November see's the launch of some of this years biggest titles and if you're a gamer, you will know what they are. If you're and you don't know what they are, then you've had you head buried in a pretty deep hole this last few months.
Call of Duty - Black Ops II
Last years number one titles were obvious, with Call of Duty once again dominating the Christmas period. You didn't have to look hard in your local gaming retailer to see what everyone was buying and Call of Duty MW3 was quite simply flying off the shelves. I fully expect a repeat performance this year with Black Ops II. Black Ops is still one of the most popular Call of Duty titles and this new edition brings what looks like the first bit of fresh blood to the never ending franchise in quite a few years. Now I'm no CoD fan, personally I think it sucks (here come the angry comments...), but I can't deny the game is popular with millions of fans, so who am I to judge.
This November also sees the big Game Of The Year Editon of Batman: Arkham City, a game that has already proven its self in the sales charts and will no doubt see another lease of life once again now that it's bundles with all it's popular DLC and of course it's special release specifically for the Wii U.
Nintendo - Wii U
Which brings me onto the biggest release of the month, I am of course talking about Nintendo's latest console the Wii U. It's the first new home console hardware from the big three (Nintendo, Sony & Microsoft) in years and with no announcement on the next gen PlayStation or Xbox expected until late next year it's high time to enjoy some high definition Nintendo goodness. I'm really looking forward to this console and you should too, while it's not much more powerful that the Xbox or Playstation 3, that's never been what a Nintendo console has ever been about. But this does mean that games such as Mario, Zelda and other Nintendo favourites will have never looked so good.
Even with Call of Duty, Wii U and all the other releases this November, there is only one title that really has a place in my heart. Just Dance 4! No I'm joking, it's Halo 4! Yes the Master Chief returns in his 4th official outing and the first game at the help of new Developers since the departure of famed Halo developers Bungie earlier this year. While I don't think Halo will beat Call of Duty in sales overall, due to the fact CoD is a multi-platform release, where as Halo is Xbox only. I do still think this game is going to get a lot of spotlight this holiday season and if what I've seen and played of Halo 4 so far is any indication of the final product, you can bet it's going to be the 1 game that makes people buy Xbox 360 consoles this Christmas.
Halo 4 - Xbox 360
There are plenty of fun titles out this month too, such as Nike+ Kinect Training for those of us who love to keep fit by playing computer games, I'd rather run on a treadmill and play Forza personally, but that's just me. Keeping with the physical aspect of things we also have Just Dance 4, always a popular party game and always a big seller all year round.
We also have the Dragon Ball Z HD Collection, Epic Mickey 2, Sonic & All Starts Racing Transformed, Assassin's Creed 3 (pc), Rockstar Games Collection 1 and WWE 13 making up the rest of what will no doubt be popular sellers over the next couple of months, both directly to gamers and as some fantastic stocking fillers for Christmas.
