After demonstrating their second generation of Indilinx Everest 2 controller at CES 2012, OCZ showed us it in action at CeBIT 2012 in the form of an OCZ Vertex 4. As with previous models the Vertex 4 is a 2.5 inch form factor SSD with a SATA 6.0 Gb/s interface and Synchronous MLC NAND Flash memory.
It’s listed specifications are :
· Sata 6Gb/s Interface
· Everest 2 NAND Flash Controller Platform
· Synchronous MLC 2.5-inch design
· Up to 550MB/s
· Upto 90,000 IOPS (4k Random Write)*
· Support for up to 2TB*
*Preliminary specification subject to change.
At CeBIT OCZ demonstrated the performance of the Vertex 4 showing its sequential read and write speeds at 366.94 MB/s and 305.26 MB/s and up to 80,000 IOPS for 4k random reads. Which is lower than the listed speeds however it was said to be running in IDE mode on a un-known SATA Controller so despite no release date on this product we look forward to seeing it soon so we can put it through its paces.
