Windows 10 is a major release for Microsoft, so major in fact that they are offering users of Windows 7 and Windows 8 a free upgrade to the latest version for the first year.
Windows 10 is familiar to users of both Windows 7 and Windows 8, including an improved start menu, performance improvements and new features such as the Edge browser, Cortana, Xbox App and many more. Thankfully Microsoft have designed the upgrade to be as seamless and easy as possible, after the upgrade your personal files and even pinned apps will be there for you ready to use.
Microsoft are being generous with Windows 10 upgrades and offering users the chance to upgrade to the equivalent version of Windows 10 to what they are currently using, for some users this will mean a free upgrade to a more feature packed version of Windows 10. Microsoft will only offer the Windows upgrade on PCs and Devices that are compatible with Windows 10, the Windows 10 upgrade App will only appear if your PC is ready for the upgrade – don’t worry if it hasn’t appeared just yet, more and more PCs are being made compatible each and every day.
You can reserve your free upgrade in the Get Windows 10 app. To find the app:
• Click on the small Windows icon located at the right end of the taskbar to get started.
• Click "Reserve your free upgrade" in the app window.
• Enter your email if you want confirmation of this reservation.
• All set. Once you reserve, Windows 10 will download when available*. There’s no obligation and you can cancel your reservation at any time.
You’ll get a notification after July 29, 2015 once Windows 10 is downloaded to your device. Install it right away or pick a time that’s good for you.
After it’s installed, you have Windows 10 for free on that device.
