At their SSD Global Summit in Korea, Samsung announced a new addition to their SSD lineup, the Samsung 840 EVO. The drive will use 19nm Toggle 2.0 NAND a new controller and will be available in 120GB,250GB,500GB,750GB and 1TB capacities, which means that you will certainly will not be caught short of options for storage to suit your requirements.
The drives look to give a much needed performance increase over Samsung's entry level 840 Series using a new feature called TurboWrite, improving the sequential write speeds most noticeably in the smaller capacities, which can be seen in the graph below, we have not marked the 750GB and 1TB models on the graph as the speeds are identical between the two 840 EVO drives and there is no comparable 840 to compare with.
There is also a slight improvement in overall read speeds with them seeing a slight boost upto 540MB/s as well as a boost in general IOPS.
The drives are reportedly going to be available soon, and will be available in standard 2.5" form factors with pricing expected to be simalar to the current 840 range.
