AMD’s latest and greatest APU the A10-6800K (codename: Richland) is looking to be quite the chip for those into professional overclocking. Finnish overclocker “The Stilt” managed to break the 8.00GHz barrier with the chip. No doubt a huge amount of skill was needed by “The Stilt” but the tools of the trade he was using had to help, namely liquid-nitrogen cooling taking the chip down to -185°C.
The overclock was achieved using a core voltage of 1.992V, a base clock set to 127Mhz and the BClk multi set at 63.0x. All four of the APUs cores were enabled during the overclocking attempt using the Asus F2A85-V Pro motherboard and dual channel memory running at just 1692MHz.
