Gran Turismo 6 has been no secret, it was not only inevitable, but it was also leaked extensively over the last few month like a bucket full of holes, only one question remained unanswered, next-gen or current gen?
It's definitely coming to the PlayStation 3 although the developers have said that if demand is there and the timing is right, they make push it to PS3 at a later date, although I wouldn't expect that to happen any time soon. So ‘why the PS3’ with the next-gen just months away? Simple, the install base of the PS3 is over 50 million users, the PS4 has zero, it's profit and games sell better at the end of the console life cycle, a period that is expected to last until 2015.
No release date has been confirmed but they did say it will be here in time for winter and that suggests a November release window, although you will be able to get your hands on a demo come July, so at least you'll have some idea of what you are buying.
GT6 will supply you with 1200 cars, 33 tracks, 71 track layouts, an all-new rendering engine, monthly DLC releases with new tracks and cars, DLC season pass options and who knows what else! Either way, this could be the return to form that the GT series has needed since the PS2, let’s just hope Polyphony deliver a great racer that can knock Forza down a few pegs.
