Seagate Hits 2 Billion Drives Shipped Milestone

After taking 30 years to ship their first 1 billion Seagate have demolished that record due to the increased demand for storage.

Seagate took 30 years to ship their first 1 billion drives however it’s only taken 4 years to ship another 1 billion which is "a staggering number fuelled by the explosive demand for storage." according to the manufacturer.

CEO Steve Luczo said in a statement that "This is truly an impressive accomplishment and I am proud to lead this company as we celebrate this success," and that "This achievement is a testament to the commitment of our employees whose relentless dedication and personal pride continue to be the fabric of this company."

Following the announcement of their discontinuation of 7,200rpm 2.5” mobile drives Seagate are clearly excited about the figures and keen to push their new hybrid drives

Seagate released an infographic for the achievement which can be found here.
